Von der Leyen: Serbia should deliver on ‘de-facto’ recognition

The President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, said that the de-escalation is always required by both sides.

“We strongly condemn the violent attack of September 24th. My deepest condolences to the family and the friends of the police officer. Such an attack is totally unacceptable. Let me reassure you that the EU is fully committed to a future with all six Western Balkan countries, Kosovo is making steady progress, congratulations on your hard work and your efforts, especially in strengthening your democracy. We will walk this path together”, she said.

As for visa liberalization, she said it is a cornerstone for strengthening relations.

“We also invite Kosovo to launch the procedure to establish the Association of Serbian majority Municipalities. And Serbia should deliver on ‘de-facto’ recognition”, she said.
