Visitor number to cultural heritage sites rose 46% in 2023

Cultural tourism, with countless museums, castles and other historical and cultural heritage sites to be explored all over Albania, is attracting an ever growing number of both local and foreign visitors.

The Minister of Culture Elva Margariti said on Monday that the visitor numbers to the country’s various museums and castles rose 45% year-on-year in 2023 to over one million visitors.

“The number of visitors to the cultural heritage sites and monuments beat also the record set in 2019,” Culture Minister said as she revealed official data on visitor number to cultural heritage site during last year.

According to her, more than one million foreign tourist visited museums, cultural heritage and archaeological sites across the country.

Cultural heritage sites and archaeological parks across Albania have become very popular cultural tourism destinations for both international and local visitors.

In addition to its coastline and pristine beaches, Albania is home to many cultural monuments and archaeological parks where culture and history admirers can enjoy a special tour to these sites.
