In the amount of 34.5 million dollars, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani and Mary Eileen Devitt, on behalf of USAID, have signed the grant agreement for development objectives, which aims to provide better services to the citizens of Kosovo.
The President of the country, Vjosa Osmani, while showing the importance of this project that benefits Kosovo, added that the USA has been and remains a dedicated and steadfast partner of the people of Kosovo in this regard.
“Every initiative and every success that has at its center the improvement of the lives of the citizens of Kosovo and the strengthening of our democratic and accountable institutions also has the traces of the USA. The agreement that we just signed with the USA, specifically with USAID, is also a reaffirmation towards our common vision for a better and more stable future for all our citizens without distinction. The amendment of the agreement on the grant for development objectives in an additional value of 34.5 million dollars, which in the total amount of the agreement reaches the value of 142.6 million dollars will support projects aimed at better services for our citizens, from accountable and effective institutions of governance such as and increasing opportunities for inclusive democratic and economic participation. The USA has been and remains a dedicated and unwavering partner of the people of Kosovo in this regard”, said Osmani.
Osmani also said that in addition to financial support, the American people over the years have shown a continuous partnership built on values, as she said “a partnership built on mutual trust, trust in a Kosovo that, in every decision, has its people at the center of attention”.
Meanwhile, the US ambassador to Kosovo, Jeffrey Hovenier, said that this will help Kosovo to integrate further into European markets and bring the country closer to Euro-Atlantic institutions such as the European Union.
He has also emphasized US aid for years. As he said, 25 years have passed since the US first started providing this kind of aid to the people of Kosovo, and in that time, more than one billion US dollars have been given to support the Kosovo people.
“Over the years this assistance from the American government and from the American people has supported the establishment and effective operations of local government as well as… central government Ministries, helped Kosovo’s businesses grow and compete successfully in the global economy enhancing prosperity for all Kosovans, strengthen independent media, enhanced energy security as well as many other things. These new funds will likewise go towards programs and activities that will further boost Kosovo’s economy and support good governance and more effective provision of services by government to all residents of Kosovo. We believe this will in turn help Kosovo integrate further into European markets, and move the country closer to Euro Atlantic institutions like the European Union, which is, of course, a goal we all share. The American people are proud and honored to provide the support”, said Hovenier.
Amendment No. 06 of the grant agreement for development objectives was signed by President Osmani on behalf of the Republic of Kosovo and by Mary Eileen Devitt on behalf of USAID.
