Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic has stated that relations between Montenegro and China are good, but there is room for further improvement, particularly in the tourism industry, which is Montenegro’s most important economic sector.
At a meeting with the Vice-Governor of China’s Shandong Province, Song Junji, Kordic noted that Montenegro had seen very positive results in the number of tourist arrivals from from China, with a steady increase in the number of tourists over the past several years.
She added that last year saw a 60 percent increase in overnight stays compared to the previous year.
Kordić informed the Chinese delegation that Montenegro had assumed the presidency of the UN World Tourism Organization’s Commission for Europe, which opened up new opportunities for cooperation, especially considering China’s significant role in this international body.
She highlighted the great potential for investment in MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism and health tourism. According to her, sound investments can contribute to the development of high-quality tourism, along with stronger cooperation between the tourism industries of both countries and improved promotion.
