TIRANA, Dec 3 /ATA/ Last night, the event “Vissi d’arte, vissi d’amore” was held at COD, a title inspired by a famous aria by the Italian composer Giacomo Puccini.
Held for the first time at the venues of Prime Minister’s Office, this event was staged as part of the centenary of Puccini’s death, which is celebrated by the world’s most renowned theaters and opera houses through the jubilee year of 2024.
As in most world capitals, Tirana also hosted concerts and stage performances of Puccini’s operas throughout 2024. To conclude the year, COD staged performances of some of his most famous works, including romances for voice and piano, piano pieces (premiere), the aria from Suor Angelica for oboe and piano, and excerpts from Tosca for four hands on the piano.
Distinguished figures from Albanian music were in attendance, such as composer Zef Çoba, soprano Shqipe Zani, musicologist Holta Sina Kilica, soprano Eriona Gjyzeli, and others. Alongside the performances, the life and work of the composer were discussed, highlighting the importance of his compositions in the history of music and their influence on the art of opera.
