Roman Lopatynskyi, 31, from Ukraine is the winner of the XIXth edition of the George Enescu International Competition, Piano Section, at the end of a final in which he performed the Concerto no. 2 in B flat major for piano and orchestra op. 83 by Johannes Brahms, accompanied by the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of conductor Christian Reif.
In second place was Tatiana Dorokhova, 33, and in third place Evgeny Konnov, 31, both from Russia, ARTEXIM reports on Monday.
The winner of the 2nd prize, Tatiana Dorokhova performed Concerto no. 1 in D minor for piano and orchestra op. 15 by Johannes Brahms, while the winner of the 3rd prize, Evgeny Konnov performed the Concerto no. 1 in B flat minor for piano and orchestra op. 23 by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
During the Awards Gala, three special prizes were also offered:
The Radu Lupu Award for the best interpretation of a work by George Enescu, worth 3,000 euros, was won by Roman Lopatynskyi, who performed Sonata no. 3 in D major op. 24.
The prize for the best interpretation of the imposed work – Bulz for piano by Diana Rotaru, worth 2,000 euros, was won by Tatiana Dorokhova.
The Constanta Erbiceanu Prize, offered by the Erbiceanu Cultural Foundation, in the amount of 2,500 euros, which is awarded to a Romanian contestant, was won by Alexa Stier.
The Audience Award, worth 1,000 euros, was won by Evgeny Konnov, who was voted by an audience from 15 countries: Malaysia, Croatia, Kazakhstan, Estonia, Argentina, North Macedonia, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Ukraine, Italy, Russia, the United States of America, Germany and Romania.
