Tribute to Forgotten Pirates begins in Sulina

The Sulina Pirates Association is organizing, starting Thursday, the Tribute to the Forgotten Pirates, an event that aims to bring back to the eastern city of Sulina its former glory, according to a press release from the association.

The first action included in the festival calendar will start at 3:00 p.m. and will be a public debate on the topic “Can Sulina become what it used to be?”, to which city residents and authorities were invited. The debate will be followed by concerts supported by Mihai Margineanu and Vita-de-vie.

On Friday, from 5:30 p.m., a children’s workshop will take place, and the concerts of the Bucharest, Proconsul, and White Mahala bands are scheduled to start at 7:45 p.m.

According to the press release, this year’s edition of the festival will also include a backgammon championship organized together with the Romanian Backgammon Federation, in which five Romanian champions will participate, a painting camp with a painting opening, as well as the screenings of the artistic film “Porto-Franco”, production 1961, the scenario being based on the novel Europolis by Jean Bart.

On Saturday, at 12.00, at the Cemetery on the outskirts of Sulina, there will be a memorial service for the pirates, which will be followed by magic shows, a workshop for children, and the event will end in the evening with recitals by the bands Bucharest, Cargo and Loredana.
