Thermal tourism, as a special form of tourism, can contribute significantly to the extension of tourist season and the sustainable development of destinations, Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni said on Tuesday.
Kefalogianni underlined that the Ministry of Tourism has already recognized more than 80 natural spa resources, geographically dispersed throughout the territory, and has licensed more than 30 spa tourism facilities. In order to strengthen and develop spa tourism, she added, the Committee for the Protection of Spa Natural Resources has also been reconstituted, which supports the ministry’s work, aiming at better utilizing spa sources for the benefit of local communities.
