Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Wednesday that he will talk to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday following reports that Italian nationals are among thousands of illegal migrants Washington intends to send to Guantanamo.

“A phone call is already on the agenda with Rubio tomorrow afternoon and I will try to get further clarification,” Tajani told RTL 102.5 radio.

He added that the government does not know how many Italians are illegally staying in the US.
