Podgorica, (MINA) – The USA could further assist in promoting the acceleration of Montenegro’s European path, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic and the new US envoy for the Western Balkans Alexander Kasanof have agreed.

According to a press release from the President’s Office, Milatovic met with Kasanof on the sidelines of the GLOBSEC security forum in Prague.

Milatovic stated that the meeting confirmed the strong cooperation and strategic partnership between the USA and Montenegro, noting that this is an important message.

He added that they agreed that the USA could further assist in promoting the acceleration of Montenegro’s European path.

“You know that the American voice in Brussels is also very important, and, as I emphasized during the discussions, it is important that we work further on intensifying our economic cooperation, by putting additional focus on the economic dialogue”, Milatovic said after the meeting.

He noted that Montenegro is a credible NATO ally and that America knows this very well.
