Spajic: Municipalities need to fight for credible investors

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Prime Minister Milojko Spajic has said that the synergy between central and local authorities is crucial for the realization of large investments and added that municipalities must compete for investors’ attention when they express interest in Montenegro.

Spajic met with the mayors of southern municipalities in Montenegro to discuss investment opportunities and interest in potential investments.

According to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Office, Spajic informed the mayors about the meetings he held in the past period to promote Montenegro’s investment potential, highlighting the increased interest from investors, but also the lack of initiative and responsiveness from local administrations.

“The goal of all international visits is to promote Montenegro’s potential, but we must understand that the realization of large investments requires synergy between central and local authorities. Our task is to create opportunities, while the task of local management is to enable the implementation of large projects that will ensure a better standard of living,” Spajic said.

He added that new investments had a positive impact on local entrepreneurs by creating opportunities to improve their businesses.

“When an investor shows interest in our country, municipalities are the ones that must compete for their attention. Therefore, it is particularly important to improve the business environment and create opportunities for the development and employment of the local population,” Spajic said.
