Podgorica, (MINA) – Montenegro has made significant progress in cooperation with Europol in recent years, with additional advancements in information exchange during last year, it was stated during a meeting between Europol Director Catherine de Bolle and Prime Minister Milojko Spajic in Davos.
According to a Government’s press release, the interlocutors emphasized that Montenegro became Europol’s very important partner due to its unique position in the Balkans.
It was noted that the number of exchanged data increased by 25 percent last year.
“In recent years, we have observed significant growth in the number of data exchanges, which has strengthened our cooperation with Montenegro,” said de Bolle, expressing her gratitude to Spajic.
The Government noted that the meeting highlighted the lack of response from the relevant authorities in the past, despite receiving data on criminal activities.
It was also reported that Spajic thanked de Bolle for Europol’s continued vital support to Montenegro in its fight against organized crime groups, despite the previous lack of action.
“The data we receive from Europol have enabled us to respond much more effectively to the activities of organized crime groups and to identify their collaborators within the security sector,” Spajic stated.
