SARAJEVO, July 31 (FENA) – A panel entitled “Green Day in focus: Festival, partners and sustainability”, organized by the Sarajevo Film Festival, was held today at the Meeting Point Cinema, and the festival’s partners and sponsors presented the activities of their companies, organizations and institutions in the field of sustainability and environmental protection.
An MP in the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH and president of the Green Club, Saša Magazinović, praised the Sarajevo Film Festival, which is engaged in the field of green policies.
“I am pleased that we maintain the continuity of partnership as the Green Club with the Sarajevo Film Festival. This year, SFF will also be a meeting place for people from politics, business… and together we will make an additional contribution to raising awareness among the public about the need to take care of our environment together,” said Magazinović.
He believes that, considering the influence that SFF has, the messages will be strong enough to be heard outside the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Director of the SFF, Jovan Marjanović, referred to the importance of the festival, to the numerous participants and guests, and pointed out that SFF, as a large event, should be organized in a responsible manner.
“We recognized that for us it is simply a must to try to organize the festival in the most environmentally friendly way possible. That is why we have been working for several years to achieve standards that reduce greenhouse gases,” underlined Marjanović.
The FBiH Minister of Environment and Tourism Nasiha Pozder emphasized the role of the Sarajevo Film Festival when it comes to environmental responsibility, as well as the role of the festival in the development of tourism.
Nadia Bergamiono, program manager for energy at the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina, said that the institution fully supports the SFF in its pioneering green initiatives.
“It is an obligation, a responsibility, the European Union has set the most ambitious goals in the world and the most ambitious goals related to climate change and energy. It wants to become neutral in terms of carbon emissions by 2050. BiH should keep up, because there is no alternative,” said Bergamiono, adding that the EU will support BiH in fulfilling its obligations under the green agenda.
She underlined that the SFF is committed to becoming a climate-neutral event.
“We are convinced that the SFF can serve as a role model for many others who can follow it,” she stressed.
