Romania is participating in the Turin International Book Fair, which is underway between May 9 and 13, with a national stand with a consistent editorial offer, organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR), through the National Book Centre, the Romanian Institute of Culture and Humanistic Research in Venice and the Accademia di Romania in Rome.
According to a press release from the ICR sent to AGERPRES, the protagonists of the events within the Romanian program are personalities from Romania, from Italy and from the Republic of Moldova, representative for the profile of the event – writers, translators, editors, philologists, literary critics, philosophers, journalists, representatives of some publishing houses from the peninsula.
Located in Pavilion 1/D14 of the Lingotto Fiere exhibition complex, Romania’s stand includes a space intended for book sales, organized with the support of the Libris Bookstore in Brasov and the support of Atlassib, as well as a small salon dedicated to the Romanian literary presentations included in the program of participation in the Turin International Book Fair.
The theme of this year’s edition of the Salon is “Vita immaginaria” – “Imagined Life”. Under the motto “Immaginare leggendo” – “Imagining reading”, Romania’s stand promoting both contemporary Romanian literature and works by Romanian authors in the fields of philosophy, history, literary criticism, published in Italian in the last two years.
The volumes translated and published through the “Translation and Publication Support Program” of the Romanian Cultural Institute or from the direct initiative of some Italian publishing houses are brought to the public’s attention through book presentations, comments and discussions with readers in which both authors and publishers will participate, the translators and a number of renowned guests.
