Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic, Montenegro and Serbia regard each other as their most important economic partners, with a robust exchange of goods and services, particularly in tourism.
At a meeting with Serbia’s Minister of Internal and External Trade Jagoda Lazarevic, Kordic stated that tourists from Serbia traditionally accounted for the largest number of visits and overnight stays in Montenegro.
The Ministry stated in a press release that the two officials had an open and constructive discussion, focusing on key topics of mutual interest, with special emphasis on enhancing economic cooperation, trade exchange, and tourism development between the two countries.
The two officials acknowledged a rise in investment activities between the two countries, including investments by Montenegrin citizens in Serbia and vice versa. They agreed that the region was a natural space for cooperation, further strengthened by the CEFTA agreement.
In addition to tourism, the importance of cooperation in areas that directly impact its development – such as energy and information technology – was also highlighted.
Lazarevic particularly highlighted the importance of investing in road and rail infrastructure, which is crucial for the more efficient movement of both tourists and goods.
It was agreed that tourism is one of the key drivers of GDP and that joint projects contribute to the sector’s sustainability.
