Unemployment falls at historic low of 10.7%

TIRANA, December 11/ATA/ Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj stated today that, “The labor market continues to be a strong point of the Albanian economy”.

In a press conference, he said that, “Unemployment has dropped to a historic low of 10.7%, while we predict that in 2025 we will have a single-digit unemployment rate of 9.8%, which means that this is the first time in the last three decades that Albania has such an unemployment rate”.

The minister stated that the fact that the Albanian economy is increasingly attracting a workforce, a dynamic that can help us continue to manage demographic issues more effectively, remains encouraging.

“In this challenge, the private enterprise naturally also has an important role, which will have to reflect the same dynamics with wage increases, as has been done in the public sector. It must be understood that a higher salary means more attractive jobs, it means a well-paid workforce that is ready to be more productive for the economy”, the minister said.

“We encourage all private entrepreneurship in order to move in parallel towards a vision that serves the entire economy of the country”, stated Malaj.
