Repairs scheduled on Romanian side of Giurgiu-Ruse bridge

Road traffic on the Giurgiu-Ruse bridge will be affected due to repair works of the devices covering the expansion joints scheduled on the Romanian side, the Giurgiu Border Police Inspectorate (ITPF) announced on Friday.

The works will start on October 21.

“The repairs will be carried out simultaneously with those underway on the Bulgarian side; they will start from the middle of the bridge and will gradually retreat to the Romanian side, with the blocked area being about 150 metres where traffic will be guided by  traffic paddles,” according to ITPF Giurgiu.

Road traffic will be difficult.

“We are asking the participants in the cross-border traffic for understanding, and we want to assure them that at our level all measures have been taken to secure smooth traffic through the border crossing.”
