Rafting Championship on picturesque banks of Vjosa River, competition and promotion of tourism in Përmet

TIRANA, April 12/ATA/ The 8th National Rafting Championship 2025 on the last wild river in Europe – Vjosa turned Përmet into home of amateur and professional athletes for two consecutive days, on April 11 and 12, who sailed and competed for the grand prize.

Under the special auspices of the Municipality of Përmet, this national event was organized by the Albanian Rafting Association. 8 teams named after Albanian rivers, Vjosa, Osumi, Black Drini, Bënça, Bistrica, Shkumbini and Drinos participated in the championship.

Minister of Tourism and Environment Mirela Kumbaro emphasized that, “This championship in Përmet and the training of new guides are one of those events with a high level of professionalism and very significant for sustainable and year-round development”.

On his part, President of the Albanian Rafting Federation Zamo Spathara stated that the professionalism, competition and friendship between the teams raised the level of this edition.

If compared to previous years, this edition was significantly more competitive and with a wider participation of teams from all regions, thanks to organization and new rafting guides.

The Vjosa – the last wild river in Europe – offered a perfect place for the competitions, especially in April, when the water level is optimal for rafting.

The next ambition for the Albanian Rafting Association is to establish a permanent rafting camp in the city of Përmet, equipped with slalom gates, to increase the organizational and competitive capacity of the sport at the nat
