Bucharest, Dec 22 /Agerpres/ – The National Bank of Romania, as administrator of the SaFIR financial instruments depository and settlement system, becomes a member of the European Central Securities Depository Association (ECSDA) starting with January 1, 2026, according to a press release from the bank.

ECSDA represents 40 national and international central depositories of financial instruments from 36 European countries.

The association offers its members a forum for the exchange of views and the development of projects of mutual interest, promoting a constructive dialogue between the central depository community, European public authorities and other stakeholders, with the aim of contributing to an efficient and modern post-trade infrastructure for European financial markets.

SaFIR is the system for registering and settling government securities transactions (GSRS system).
