PM: 2024 tourism revenue to be higher than last year’s

ZAGREB, 22 Aug (Hina) – Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said on Thursday that the tourist season was proceeding as expected, that tourist arrivals and overnight stays had risen since the start of the year and that tourism revenue would thus be higher than last year.

Since the beginning of the year 15.3 million tourists have visited Croatia, generating 79.3 million overnight stays, which are increases of 3% and 1% respectively compared to the same period of 2023, Plenković said at a government session, the first one after the summer recess.

“The preseason had record-high results, an excellent postseason is expected and we believe tourism revenue will be higher than last year,” the PM said.

He also announced a budget revision and the continuation of responsible management of public finances.

This has given Croatia a very high level of international credibility and impacted its credit rating, which is the highest ever according to all three leading rating agencies, said Plenković.
