Përparim Rama: From today you can call Tony Blair “Prishtinas”

The Mayor of the Municipality of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, highly appreciated the role and contribution of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair in the struggle of the Albanian people for freedom and independence on the 25th anniversary of liberation.

After the meeting with the former British Prime Minister, to whom he gave the “Key to the City” and “Honorary Citizen of the Capital” awards, he said it was a pleasure to have received a great world personality like Tony Blair at the meeting.

“The intervention in Kosovo for the liberation of Kosovo is very necessary and right for Britain, for America and the whole world and we thank him from the bottom of our hearts for being here today and we can personally honor him with the award we gave him as an honorary citizen of the capital… Now you are (addresses Blair) an honorary citizen of Prishtina and you can even call him “prishtinas” (a citizen of Prishtina). That’s what we call the citizens of Prishtina”, said Rama.

Former Prime Minister Blair has expressed his gratitude for the distribution of awards by the mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, as he has expressed his belief that Kosovo has a bright future as an independent state.

“This is a very important honor for me and thank you very much indeed. But just to add one thing to what I said there and what I said when I was addressing the parliament earlier, and that is about Prishtina itself… I think it is important that those of us who stood by with pride, stood by Kosovo in those darkest of days 25 years ago, stand with you today on the threshold of something more optimistic that helped in this new chapter of the country’s history as well. I just wanted to emphasize again that for me and my institute, for the work that I now do, we are happy to help in any way we can, because the more successful you are, the better for the people here” said Blair.
