Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – According to Airports of Montenegro, Podgorica airport has served nearly 370,000 passengers from 1 January to 21 April, 45 percent more compared to the same period in 2019.
The company stated in a press release that the number of passengers had increased, as expected, since the beginning of the summer season, starting in late March in the aviation industry.
According to announcements, the number of passengers will continue to increase, as during the summer, Podgorica Airport will be connected to about 45 destinations.
This was also highlighted by the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, which stated that aviation accessibility was crucial in the process of strengthening Montenegro’s position as a growing tourist destination.
Airports of Montenegro reminded that the founder of Montenegro Airports was the Government, which would decide on the model of their further development.
It has long been known that, due to the growing interest of passengers and airlines in Montenegro, the expansion of the existing infrastructure at Podgorica and Tivat airports is necessary.
