Partnership with the UN contributes to democratization of society

Podgorica, (MINA) – The long-standing partnership between Montenegro and the UN has significantly contributed to the democratization of Montenegrin society and the overall development of the country, it was stated at the meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimovic and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

According to the press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahimovic met with Guterres on the sidelines of the Human Rights Council session in Geneva.

According to this governmental department, Guterres was interested in current regional developments, assessing that the process of European integration contributes to strengthening the stability and further prosperity of the Western Balkans.

Guterres said that Montenegro is an active and reliable member of the UN and that it can count on full support in further development efforts.

“Ibrahimovic expressed gratitude for the long-term partnership between Montenegro and the UN system, which significantly contributed to the democratization of Montenegrin society and the overall development of the country”, the press release said.

The press release concludes that the interlocutors exchanged opinions on current geopolitical challenges, assessing that the UN has a key role in preserving the international ruled-based order.
