There are currently more than 45,200 electric cars on the roads in Romania, with almost 5,000 thereof registered in the first four months of 2024, shows a market survey published in the Romanian e-mobility Index by Lektri.Co, one of the major players in the field of electric mobility.
Overall, Dacia Spring remains the leader in electric car purchases by Romanian drivers, with 1,490 vehicles registered from January to the end of April (30 percent of all electric cars registered in 2024). Since the launch of Dacia Spring on the market in 2021, there have been 17,350 registrations for this full-electric model, i.e. 39 percent of Romania’s electrified cars stock.
Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y are second and third in the 2024 four-month ranking of electric vehicle purchases.
For the first time, another electric vehicle moved close to the podium apart from the already established three – Renault Megane E-Tech, with 53 registrations compared to 59 for Model Y.
In the LCV category, Ford Transit is the electric vehicle with most registrations, 7th in the list of electric car registrations in Romania this April. In the high-end segment, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche account for a combined 517 registrations this year, the equivalent of 10 percent of all electric vehicles registered in Romania in 2024.
