Over 2 million passengers have traveled to Prishtina International Airport “Adem Jashari”, until the seventh month of 2024.
Whereas only in the first half of August, this airport had over 200,000 round-trip passengers.
The spokeswoman at Prishtina Airport, Valentina Gara, in a statement for KosovaPress, says that this year the number of passengers has increased by about 20 percent.
She points out that the most frequented countries are Switzerland, Germany, Turkey and Austria, and some other countries.
“From January to July we had an increase in the number of passengers. So far we have had somewhere around 2.2 million round-trip passengers. Meanwhile, in the month of August until today, we have over 200,000 round-trip passengers who are at Prishtina International Airport… We have an increase in the number of passengers, only in the first half of the year, somewhere over 20 percent, compared to the same period last year. As for the destinations, the most frequented destinations, or the flights that have the most number of passengers, are from Switzerland. Then it is Germany, Turkey, Austria and other destinations”, said Gara.
Among other things, Gara points out that after the large flow of passengers after the visa liberalization, Prishtina Airport has increased its capacities in terms of infrastructure and human resources.
“Regarding the processing of passengers or the proper function of the airport after the visa liberalization, we have sufficient capacities and normally with the increase in the number of travelers we increase these capacities as well as those of human resources and infrastructure. On the 3rd (August) we inaugurated the addition of exits, we had 8 before, now there are 12. A physical space has been increased at Prishtina Airport to process as easily as possible and to cope with this flow of passengers”, said Gara.
