Osmani: The recognition of independence from Ukraine will come together with its victory
The president, Vjosa Osmani, has said that the recognition of Kosovo’s independence from Ukraine will come together with its victory in the war against Russia.
Osmani, on the sidelines of the “Ukraine – Southeast Europe” Summit, which is being held in Tirana, Albania, told the media that Kosovo will continue its support to Ukraine, against Russian military aggression.
She answered questions about whether she will ask Ukraine to recognize Kosovo.
“These are bilateral issues. We have always made such a request and will continue to do so. With the full understanding that Ukraine is in a state of emergency, a state of war, fighting for its freedom and independence and democratic values. I am convinced that that moment will come together with Ukraine’s victory”, she said.
Osmani announced that at the Summit she will talk about the concrete steps that Kosovo is taking in support of Ukraine.
“Today at the Summit I will talk about the concrete steps that Kosovo is taking in this direction, together with allies and partners. We will be here until the victory of Ukraine”, said Osmani.
Asked about the possibilities of a confrontation with the Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic at this Summit, Osmani said that there will always be such, since according to her, Vucic lives in the past.
“We will always have confrontations with them because they live in the past”, said Osmani.
