Enlargement policy remains high on the EU agenda, said newly appointed EU Ambassador to Montenegro Johann Sattler, adding that all social stakeholders should invest effort on the EU path, so that Montenegro would become the next EU member.
Sattler presented on Thursday his credentials to President of Montenegro Jakov Milatovic.
According to the press release from the President’s office, Sattler said that the enlargement policy remains high on the EU agenda.
He said that it is necessary that all social actors invest efforts on European path, so that Montenegro would fulfill the commitments from the negotiation process and become the next EU member.
“Honored to represent the EU in this remarkable country. My team and I will do our utmost to help Montenegro seize the historic opportunity to move forward decisively on its journey to the EU.
Milatovic expressed belief that, with the arrival of the new ambassador, ties between Montenegro and the EU will be further strengthened and the reform processes, key for the progress on the European path, accelerated.
He underscored that Montenegro remains committed to the goal of becoming the full-fledged EU member by 2028.
