Montenegro strengthens strategic partnership with US and the region in the field of energy
Podgorica, Washington, D.C., (MINA-BUSINESS) – Montenegro is committed to a responsible energy transition and stability, with a transparent approach to all strategic projects, Minister of Energy and Mining Admir Sahmanovic said at a summit in Washington.
Sahmanovic participated in the Transatlantic Gas Security Summit, one of the most important international events dedicated to energy security and the future of the LNG market between the United States and Europe.
“The summit brought together senior representatives of the US administration, the European Commission (EC), international energy companies and leading financial institutions, confirming the strategic importance of transatlantic energy cooperation in the new geopolitical circumstances,” the Ministry of Energy stated in a press release.
During the summit, Sahmanovic also took part in a closed ministerial panel, where he presented Montenegro’s development plans in the energy sector, with a particular focus on gas infrastructure, stabilization of the electricity system and accelerated integration of renewable energy sources.
He said that Montenegro’s geostrategic position, at the crossroads of the Adriatic, the Western Balkans and the European energy space, provides opportunities that go beyond regional significance.
