Montenegro sees steady growth in tourist arrivals this year

According to State Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism Vuk Zizic, Montenegro has seen a steady 4 percent growth in tourist arrivals since the beginning of this year, which is particularly evident in the increased crossings at road and maritime border points, as well as growth in air traffic.

“There are seven percent more people crossing borders compared to last year, and almost 30 percent more compared to the record year of 2019. At maritime borders, nearly 140 percent more passengers were registered than last year, while the number of passengers at airports is about three percent higher than last year, and even 32 percent higher compared to 2019,” Zizic stated.

The Ministry responded to remarks by President Jakov Milatovic about the allegedly poor state of tourism and an “unprepared season.”

“I am surprised by Milatovic’s statements about the alleged poor state of tourism and the presentation of arbitrary data. I didn’t expect that Milatovic will follow the course of ill-intentioned circles from the former regime who are campaigning against the tourism industry in their own country, contrary to the general interest,” said Zizic.

He noted that Air Montenegro stands out with impressive figures, having transported 40 percent more passengers this year compared to the previous year, with route occupancy rates exceeding 90 percent.
