Podgorica, (MINA) – As part of the Safe Tourist Season project, Montenegro is expected to sign a cooperation protocol with Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), according to which police officers from BiH would be deployed to Montenegrin coastal municipalities during the summer.
Acting Chief of the Police Administration, Lazar Scepanovic, met on Thursday with representatives of the police organizations of Serbia, North Macedonia, Croatia, Albania, Italy, Kosovo, Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to the press release by the Police Administration, Scepanovic thanked his colleagues from the region, who participated in the “Safe Tourist Season” project, for their dedicated work and contribution improving communication with tourists, ensuring quick and effctive resolution of security challenges, and strengthening visitors’ trust in the institutions of the host country.
“This project, which has been successfully implemented for 14 years, is an example of good international cooperation, which further improves year by year, taking into account the needs of tourists and citizens of Montenegro”, the press release says.
The Police Administration stated that, during this year’s tourist season, a total of 57 officers from Serbia, North Macedonia, Croatia, Albania, Italy, Kosovo, Romania were engaged in general policing and criminal investigation activities.
“Special importance in this phase will also be the creation of preconditions for signing a protocol on cooperation with BiH, thereby including another important partner from the region”, the press release says.
