Montenegro and Uzbekistan set to strengthen economic cooperation

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The presidents of Montenegro and Uzbekistan, Jakov Milatovic and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, have agreed that there is potential to further enhance economic relations between the two countries, through increased trade and more efficient use of investment opportunities.

At a meeting that took place on the sidelines of the COP29 conference in Baku, Milatovic noted that the relations between the two countries were friendly, but needed to be strengthened, adding that the meeting was an important step that marked a new chapter in the relations between Montenegro and Uzbekistan.

“The two officials agreed on the need to intensify political dialogue and contacts at the highest and senior levels, which would provide an additional impetus to strengthening the overall relations between Montenegro and Uzbekistan,” stated a press release issued by the Public Relations Office of the President of Montenegro.

It was concluded during the meeting that, as a recognized attractive destination for foreign investment, Montenegro offers many opportunities for investments from Uzbekistan.

“The possibility of launching direct year-round flight routes was also discussed, as a way to further encourage tourism development and strengthen economic ties between the two countries,” the press release stated.
