Milatovic: Montenegro supports dialogue to keep Arctic area of stability

Podgorica, (MINA)  – Montenegro supports the continuation of dialogue and achivement of sustainable solutions among NATO allies, with the aim of keeping the Arctic an area of stability and cooperation, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic has said.

He wrote on the X social network that the world is increasingly witnessing opposing positions between the United States and the European Union countries almost on daily basis, especially regarding the status of Greenland.

Milatovic argues that this is one of the biggest challenges the NATO alliance has faced since its foundation, primarily because of its internal nature.

“It is important to point out right away that both the EU and the United States are our most important and strategic allies”, Milatovic said.

He said that Montenegro, as the most advanced EU membership candidate, consistently aligns its foreign policy with the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy.

Milatovic added that accordingly Montenegro respects the right of the citizens of Greenland to self-determination, as well as their decision to remain part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

“At the same time, in the light of recent events, Montenegro supports the continuation of dialogue and the search for sustainable solutions among NATO allies, with the aim of keeping the Arctic an area of stability and cooperation”, Milatovic pointed out.
