TIRANA, July 22 /ATA/ – Albania’s National Library has announced that a landmark exhibition titled “Mediterranean Memory – From Antiquity to Modern Times,” will remain open for one more week beyond its initial closing date due to increased interest from both local and international visitors.

Since opening, the exhibition has attracted around 2,600 visitors over the past month, including approximately 900 foreign guests.

Over 700 rare historical works, including original books, manuscripts, maps, and engravings dating from the 14th to 19th centuries, are on public display since June 18 at the National Library in Tirana.

The exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the rich and diverse heritage of the Mediterranean world, featuring highlights from the Library’s prestigious archival collection.

Highlights include the oldest Qur’an, Bibles in Hebrew and Latin, classical works by Aristotle and the Odyssey in ancient Greek alongside centuries of translations, early maps, and travel diaries.

Located in the heart of Tirana, the exhibition invites guests to explore, photograph, and be inspired by the history, culture, language, and literature of the peoples united by the Mediterranean Sea.

The exhibition is part of the cultural program leading up to Tirana’s designation as Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2025, a year-long celebration of cross-cultural heritage and dialogue in the region.
