Medical tourism potentials should be tapped

Kotor, (MINA-BUSINESS) – It was concluded at a meeting of the Coordination Committee for Medical Tourism at the Chamber of Commerce (PKCG) that Montenegro had great potential to become a year-round tourist destination, with the promotion of health, MICE, cultural, and complementary tourism.

Chair of the Coordination Committee Marina Delic said that Montenegro had immense potential but it was necessary to strengthen overall infrastructure and join efforts in tapping the potential of these forms of tourism.

“Medical tourism has always been part of the medical sector, but it has been flourishing in the last 15 years,” Delic said at the meeting, which was organized in cooperation with the Innovation Working Group for Sustainable and Medical Tourism, at the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort in Prcanj.

She added that it was necessary to join efforts and understand that Montenegro must expand its tourism products throughout the year because it has much to offer.
Delic believes that it is very important to develop a Medical Tourism Programme with an action plan, identify weaknesses, and work towards their resolution because, according to her, Montenegro has the capacities and space but it is necessary to prepare the sites.
