Podgorica, (MINA) – In the period between 17 and 23 August three new measles cases were registered in Montenegro, and thus the total number of registered cases increased to 19, the Public Health Institute (IJZ) has announced.
IJZ stated that, out of three newly registered cases, two were registered in Podgorica, and both are epidemiologically linked with one of the previously registered cases in this municipality.
Thus, according to the press release, all criteria have been met to declare the measles epidemics in Podgorica.
“This is the second municipality in Montenegro, after Budva, in which measles epidemics was declared”, the press release adds.
IJZ warned that the new school years also brings risk of further spread of measles, and once again urged upon parents to vaccinate their children without further delay.
