Mandic: Crimes of totalitarianism must not be forgotten or relativized

Podgorica, (MINA) – Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandic said that it is society’s obligation not to allow the crimes of totalitarianism to be forgotten or relativized, while fostering a culture of memory and treating all victims with equal respect.
“Today, on the European Day of Remembrance for the Victims of All Totalitarian and Authoritarian Regimes, we reverently remember the millions of people who died because of ideologies that deprived people of their freedom, dignity and lives”, Mandic said in a post on the X social network.
He said that totalitarian ideologies of the 20th century “cost our people dearly”.
Mandic stressed that society has a duty to foster a culture of remembrance and not to allow the crimes of totalitarianism to be forgotten or relativized.
“It is our obligation to foster a culture of remembrance, to treat all victims with equal respect and not to allow the crimes of totalitarianism to be forgotten or relativized, because one totalitarianism cannot cancel another, as some ideologues believed”, said Mandic.
