Skopje, 28 November 2024 (MIA) – The Macedonian Philharmonic orchestra marks Thursday its 80th anniversary with a concert titled “80 Years – Love”, which will feature a world premiere of a piece by Macedonian composer Ana Pandevska as well as the Piano Concerto in A minor, composed by Edvard Grieg, and the Symphony No. 1 in D major by Gustav Mahler.
World-renowned Macedonian pianist Simon Trpcheski will perform as a soloist and the concert will be conducted by the chief conductor of the Macedonian Philharmonic, Maestro Yeruham Scharovsky from Israel, the Macedonian Philharmonic says.
“Macedonian pianist Simon Trpcheski throughout his prolific career has collaborated with more than hundred orchestras across four continents, including the London Symphonic Orchestra, the Orchestra Philharmonic, the National Orchestra of France, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, etc,” says the Philharmonic.
Also, the press release adds that Trpcheski is committed to strengthening the cultural image of his homeland, Macedonia. His chamber music project “Makedonissimo” is intended to bring the rich traditional Macedonian folklore roots closer to global audiences.
Maestro Scharovsky, currently the chief conductor of the Macedonian Philharmonic, throughout his career has conducted over 50 orchestras in more than 20 countries, including Israel, Germany and Brazil.
The ceremony before the concert marking the milestone will begin in the foyer of the Macedonian Philharmonic building with a performance by the Mirche Acev academic choir, which will perform three pieces by the founders of the Macedonian Philharmonic orchestra, Todor Skalovski and Trajko Prokopiev.
A photo exhibition is also displayed showcasing some of the key moments in the Macedonian Philharmonic’s history.
The Macedonian Philharmonic concert will be aired live on national television.
