TIRANA, July 20 /ATA/ The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is currently working on the “Screening” process in cooperation with the European Commission, for the harmonization of local legislation with the EU acquis, developing sustainable agriculture, closer to European standards.
During July 17-18, the representatives of the European Commission and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held in Brussels explanatory meetings for chapters 11 “Agriculture and Rural Development” and 13 “Fishery”.
These meetings focused on explaining the updated legislation of the European Union as well as coherent European policies on Common European Policies, Common Market Organization, organic agriculture, state aid, direct payments, wine, market mechanisms as well as on Common Fishery Policies, data collection, structural fishery policies, aquaculture, marine space planning.
The Ministry of Agriculture said that the European Commission expressed its support for the Albanian administration in order to strengthen its capacities and said it was open to possible proposals during bilateral meetings targeting the accelerated integration.
“We will continue this process for the development of sustainable Albanian agriculture through meetings which will be followed by the meeting of the Subcommittee for Agriculture and Fisheries, which will take place in Brussels on December 5, 2023”, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs./p.s./
