Kurti shows that 88 percent of women entrepreneurs have opened self-financed businesses
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that 88 percent of women entrepreneurs have opened self-financing businesses without any external loans or support.
This is what the Prime Minister declared at the table for economic empowerment of women from non-majority communities. He added that women’s responsibilities are much greater than men’s, as according to him, women spend 6.2 more hours in unpaid care.
“We are here to discuss together the specific challenges and the urgent economic empowerment of women from minority communities in our country… The level of ownership is the same across all groups in Kosovo, but generally, it is lower and families have lower socio-economic status. However, in Kosovo, 88 percent of female entrepreneurs have started self-financed businesses, without any loans or external support. The caregiving and responsibilities of women are greater than those of men, as women spend 6.2 more hours on unpaid care work,” said Kurti.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Communities and Return, Nenad Rashiq, continued by saying that all these financial assistances (subsidies) are aimed at improving the conditions for the empowerment of women for the socio-economic integration of various communities.
Rashiq: “All these programs and subsidies are aimed at improving the conditions for those who are most in need, with a greater focus on empowering women, as well as the socio-economic integration of various communities. We have raised resources and capacities in the ministry, by launching a new program, which is very pragmatic, with a budget of 3 million euros. Now, we have launched a new call… We had a call for agriculture, with 58 beneficiaries, 12 of whom were women. Public calls for business are an increased interest in participating in the economic process, with 59 participants, 15 of whom are women in our programs. Individual subsidies: 40 are women,” he continued.
