Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that there are clear indications from security and intelligence institutions that there are efforts to make tomorrow’s rally in Gazimestan take on large proportions.

In his address before the 263rd meeting of the Kosovo Government, Kurti emphasized that for the Vidovdan holiday, groups of Serbs from Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina have been organized to enter Kosovo, in order to participate in this activity, which, as he said, has traditionally been filled with provocations.

Kurti emphasized that these groups often carry Serbian and Russian nationalist symbols, actions that he considers not only a violation of the Constitution of Kosovo, but also a contradiction of the European and democratic values that the state of Kosovo promotes.

He called on citizens not to fall prey to provocations and warned that the institutions will not allow any violation of public order, security or peace.

Vidovdan is marked as a national and religious holiday by Serbs, but it also has wider resonance in the Balkans due to the historical events associated with it.

Vidovdan is associated with the Battle of Kosovo on June 28, 1389 between Balkan forces led by Serbian prince Lazar and the Ottoman Empire led by Sultan Murad I. /KosovaPress
