Krstevski performs ‘First Person Singular’ at 10th Parade of Winners festival in Ulaanbaatar

Kumanovo, 25 September 2026 (MIA) — Kumanovo National Theater actor Vladanka Krstevski performed the monodrama “First Person Singular” directed by Dragana Gunin at the 10th Parade of Winners International One-Person Play Competition Festival in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, MIA’s Kumanovo correspondent reports.
According to the actor, who performed in Macedonian, “a good story truly knows no boundaries.” The trip to Mongolia allowed her to share ideas and experiences with artists from other countries.
“It’s wonderful to see artists from different countries speaking different languages and yet understanding each other on stage without a problem,” she said.
The Kumanovo-born actor said the Ulaanbaatar festival was a unique experience, also showing her “the Macedonian story can travel great distances and deeply move audiences both culturally and geographically so far away from us.”
Krstevski also said the monodrama is a “brutally honest” dramatic form. “You are alone on stage and have nowhere to hide,” she said. “But in Ulaanbaatar I did not feel alone. The audience was with me from start to finish. That energy was incredible and gave me additional strength.”
“First Person Singular” explores human vulnerability, fear and the universal need for connection. Throughout Krstevski’s solo performance, the audience reacted with laughter and emotion, maintaining at times a profound silence that the actor said proved feelings do not require translation.
She said it was the very intimacy of the story that helped viewers understand it without being familiar with Macedonian culture and mentality.
Krstevski also performed her show this summer in Prishtina, Kosovo, at the Monoakt Festival, where she won the Best Actress Award, and at the Dulcinea Festival in Ulcinj, Montenegro.
