Kosovo and Montenegro sign agreement on mutual recognition of electronic identification

Kosovo and Montenegro have signed an agreement on the mutual recognition of trusted services and electronic identification. At the signing ceremony, Kosovo’s Acting Minister of Digitalization and Public Administration, Lulëzon Jagxhiu, said the agreement will enable citizens and businesses in both countries to mutually recognize qualified trusted services and electronic identification schemes.

Jagxhiu: Agreement with Montenegro enables mutual recognition of electronic identification Video “This agreement concerns the mutual recognition of qualified trusted services and electronic identification schemes between the Republic of Kosovo and Montenegro.

Kosovo and Montenegro enjoy very good friendly relations based on shared values, mutual respect, and our common aspiration to join the European Union. Today’s agreement is another step toward strengthening our bilateral relations. Kosovo is advancing its digital transformation reform agenda. The e-Kosova platform is one of its main pillars, providing citizens and businesses with access to more than 320 electronic services.

At the same time, we are working on key pillars of digital transformation, including expanding and modernizing the interoperability platform, shifting towards life-event-based services that are more personalized, integrated, and proactive, transitioning to cloud technologies, modernizing the government network, and implementing electronic identification and the Digital Wallet, which is currently in the final stages before its launch,” he said. Meanwhile, Montenegro’s Minister of Public Administration, Marash Dukaj, said the agreement on the mutual recognition of trusted services and electronic identification is an important step for citizens, businesses, and the European integration process. He expressed his satisfaction at being in Pristina, stressing that the agreement removes digital borders between the two countries.
