Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Financial data confirm that this year’s tourist season is generating higher revenues, Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordic said, adding that the travel and tourism sector generated €465.05 million in revenue in the first six months of this year.

“Financial data now confirm what we have already been feeling this summer – this year’s tourist season is also bringing higher revenues,” Kordic posted on her Instagram profile.

Referring to data from the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), she said that revenues from the travel and tourism sector in the first six months of this year were 8.75 percent higher than in the same period last year.

According to Kordic, those revenues were also 82.34 percent higher than in the first two quarters of 2019.

“These are not just big numbers. They confirm that Montenegro continues to strengthen its position in the tourism market, that the quality of tourism products is being recognized, and that the efforts of everyone who contributes to our tourism sector are producing tangible results,” Kordic said.

She added that she was proud of the record-breaking season, which is still underway.
