Skopje, 2 September 2026 (MIA) – Skopje will host a major music event Wedesnday evening as part of the celebrations marking 35 years of the country’s independence. “The Best of Macedonia” music project, taking place on the plateau in front of T-Arena, will bring together Slatkaristika, Superhiks, 2Bona, Funk Shui and Dina Jashari, with free admission for the public.
Spanish tenor José Carreras gave a concert Tuesday evening, whose lineup also included prominent Macedonian music stars such as Vlatko Stefanovski, Karolina Gocheva, Kaliopi, Ana Durlovski, Igor Durlovski, Naum Petreski, Suzana Spasovska, Maja Odzhaklievska and Mile Kuzmanovski.
The 35 years of Macedonia’s independence celebrations will culminate with a final performance on September 4 at Macedonia Square in Skopje, featuring more than 120 artists.
The 35th anniversary of independence was marked with a special musical spectacle, which toured 11 cities, with the first performance at Biljanini Izvori stadium in Ohrid on Aug. 9. Through music, acting and dance, a multimedia stage spectacle tells the story of 35 years of independence of our homeland, highlighting the most significant historical moments, milestones, challenges and achievements of the past three and a half decades.
The musical program marking the anniversary will conclude on September 8 with a performance by David Guetta of his massive the Monolith Stadium Show at Skopje’s Tose Proeski National Arena.
The program featuring several concerts to mark 35 years of the country’s independence was prepared by Avalon Production in cooperation with the government.
