Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and his French and German counterparts, Catherine Colonna and Annalena Baerbock, have said in a joint letter that they support EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell’s proposal to impose sanctions on Hamas.

In the letter the ministers back the proposal to create “a sanctions regime against Hamas leaders in solidarity with Israel and in order to counter the group’s terrorist operations”.

They express their “full support for the proposal that should allow the EU to target Hamas members, affiliated groups and supporters of its destabilising activities”.
