An agreement on full liberalization of freight transport reached

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – At a joint commission meeting, the delegations of Montenegro and Ukraine have reached an agreement on full liberalization of freight transport between the two countries, which includes exempting bilateral and transit freight transport and transport to/from third countries from the requirement of permits starting from 1 June.

The joint commission meeting, focusing on international passenger and freight transport in road traffic, was held over the previous two days at the invitation of the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs of Montenegro.

The meeting was organized to discuss all issues related to international road transport of mutual interest to both countries.

“It was noted that 50 permits for non-scheduled international road transport of passengers are exchanged annually, and an agreement was reached to additionally exchange 30 permits for occasional alternating passenger transport in the coming period,” stated a press release issued by the Ministry.

The delegations agreed to mutually recognize certificates of initial professional qualification of drivers, accelerated initial professional qualification, and periodic professional qualification issued in both countries.

The Montenegrin delegation included representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs and the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, while the Ukrainian delegation comprised representatives of the Ministry of Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure and the Embassy of Ukraine in Montenegro.
