Italy-Finland say use of migration undermines EU and NATO

The us of migration undermines the EU and NATO, Italy and Finland said in a non-paper presented to EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg Monday.

“The use of migration as a hybrid instrument of influence aims at the erosion of national capabilities, security, trust and the disruption of the decision-making process of targeted governments, the European Union and NATO as a whole,” they said.

“As part of a common European approach, Italy and Finland wish to promote EU action to combat migrant smuggling and the instrumentalisation of migration”.

The non paper also said EU border agency Frontex should work in third countries too.
