Independent Qualification Commission completes vetting process of judges and prosecutors: 268 dismissed from office

TIRANA, November 23/ATA/- The Independent Qualification Commission has published the decisions taken since the start of the vetting process in the Albanian justice system on February 8, 2018, until November 21, 2024.

The Commission highlights that it has taken a total of 805 decisions, of which 373 confirmations in office.

The Commission has also taken 268 decisions for dismissal from office of people of justice who were re-evaluated on wealth, profession and integrity defined as the pillars of the vetting process in the judiciary.

During these 6 years of the process carried out under international monitoring, there were also taken 105 decisions to interrupt the process.

Thus, following completion of the re-evaluation process by the Independent Qualification Commission, the vetting process will continue in the second instance at the Special Appellate College, whose members have a 9-year mandate until the end of 2026
