MARTIN BROD, May 18 (FENA) – Despite unpredictable tourism trends and challenges on the global market, the Una National Park is recording an increase in visitor numbers in May, while the Martin Brod area continues to attract guests from neighbouring countries and the European Union this year as well.

The most numerous visitors include tourists from the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Germany, Croatia, and Serbia, while organized agency tours, campers, and motorcyclists are particularly noticeable, all coming to enjoy the natural beauty of the Una River and its waterfalls.

According to Šahza Ćehić, who works at the ticket office of Una National Park in Martin Brod, the peak visiting season begins in early May, when a large number of tourists from Central Europe and the region traditionally arrive.

”The National Park operates throughout the year, but visits intensify from the beginning of May. There are always many Czechs, Slovenians, Croats, and tourists from Serbia in May. There are also many Germans, meaning guests from both the region and the European Union. Czechs, Slovenians, and Germans usually come as campers and motorcyclists and stay in private accommodation, while agency visits are mostly one-day trips, with overnight stays likely in Bihać. Arab tourists come sporadically and in smaller numbers, as they mostly arrive in July and August. It is difficult to estimate what this year’s tourist season will look like,” Ćehić said.

During a Sunday visit to Martin Brod, an organized group of tourists from the Croatian town of Trogir was also recorded, visiting the waterfall in this part of Una National Park for the first time.

”It is really beautiful. It’s our first time here, but not our first time in the Una-Sana Canton,” said Mare from Trogir.

While Croatian tourists were taking photos near the Una waterfalls, a married couple from Dresden, Germany, expressed admiration for the natural setting of Martin Brod.

Motorcycle groups from the Czech Republic are also a notable attraction, enjoying rides along the old road from Martin Brod to Cvijetnić, following the course of the Una River through an untouched natural landscape.

The increase in visitor numbers in May confirms that Una National Park remains one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially for nature lovers, adventure tourism enthusiasts, and those seeking riverside relaxation along the Una.
