In the period January – August, 50 thousand more tourists visited BiH than in 2019

Bosnia and Herzegovina has registered 1,161,957 tourist visits in the period January – August 2023, which is 19.2 percent more compared to the same period in 2022.

In the same period, BiH registered 2,521,950 overnight stays, which is 15 percent more compared to the same period in 2022.

As a comparison, 49,931 more tourists stayed in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period January – August this year, compared to the same period in 2019, the year before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In eight months of this year, tourists in BiH made 189,197 more overnight stays compared to eight months of 2019, when 2,332,753 overnight stays were achieved in BiH, which was 9.9 percent more compared to the same period in 2018.

In the total number of overnight stays, the participation of domestic tourists was 30.6 percent, while the participation of foreign tourists was 69.4 percent.

In the structure of overnight stays by foreign tourists, the most overnight stays were achieved by tourists from Croatia (14.3 percent), Serbia (12.7 percent), Turkey (7.6 percent), Slovenia (6.4 percent), Saudi Arabia (5.6 percent), Germany (4.8 percent), United Arab Emirates (3.6 percent), USA (3.1 percent), which is a total of 58.1 percent. Tourists from other countries accounted for 41.9 percent of overnight stays, according to data from the BiH Statistics Agency.
